01 What is certified

Add4u has its environmental management system certified in accordance with ISO 14001, valid until 2027. Like the rest of our certifications, the document is published: see it here ↗.

It is worth saying what it means and what it does not. ISO 14001 certifies that there is a system to identify, control and improve the environmental impact of the activity, and that a third party audits it. It is not a measurement of our carbon footprint.

02 The product's effect

An electronic case file is not printed, transported or archived.

It is the most direct environmental effect of what we do, and it does not depend on any commitment of ours: it depends on the procedure ceasing to exist on paper. A case file that is created, signed and kept in GestDocAI does not generate copies, or transfers between offices, or metres of physical archive.

The electronic office adds the other half: citizens carry out procedures from their mobile at any time, and public staff can work from anywhere. Each procedure completed online is a trip that is not made.

We do not put a figure underneath. We could multiply the documents processed by an average sheet weight and publish an eye-catching number, but it would be an estimate disguised as data, and this website does not do that. The seven public indicators tell how many documents and how many actions have been processed; the leap from there to a tonne of CO₂ we have not measured and therefore do not claim.

03 The infrastructure

When the credit belongs to someone else, we say so.

When the service is delivered on a cloud managed by us, it relies on Microsoft Azure. Microsoft publishes its own sustainability commitments and results, and we link to them as what they are — theirs, not ours ↗.

That distinction matters: the fact that the infrastructure provider has certain commitments does not make our service carbon neutral.

In addition, the cloud is not the only option: the installation can be on-premises or on the organization's own infrastructure. In that case the deployment's footprint is that of that infrastructure, and the one who knows it is the client.

04 Governance

The part that does not carry the word «green».

The sustainability of a technology provider for the public sector is also decided by how it treats data and how it competes. There we do have documents and concrete positions:

• ISO/IEC 42001 — artificial intelligence management. The specific standard for governing AI systems: how what the AI does inside the case file is decided, supervised and accounted for.
• The data belongs to the client. Access to the database is yours from day one, no data is sent to external servers and your citizens' information does not train third-party artificial intelligences.
• We do not write tender specifications. We publish the technical specifications so that each organization writes its own. If a company drafts the tender specifications it then bids on, the competition is already decided before it begins — and the one who pays for it is the public sector.
• Current certifications with their document. ENS High Category, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701, ISO 22301, ISO/IEC 20000, ISO 9001 and ENI, all linked in Security.

05 Transparency

What we are not going to say.

There are environmental claims that are repeated across every sector and that you will not read here, because we have nothing to back them up:

• That our service is carbon neutral. We have not measured our footprint; claiming it on the basis of the cloud provider's figures would be taking credit for someone else's work.
• That the technology does not produce emissions. All computing consumes energy. Automating reduces paper and travel; it does not make consumption disappear.
• Equivalences in trees, tonnes or litres calculated from generic averages.
